The photo above is of a collage that’s in progress. For a long time, now, I’ve been wanting to document the process of creating one of these works because so much changes or gets lost along the way. A finished piece doesn’t always have much left from when it started.
The problem is… I haven’t been making collages lately. The collage above has been sitting there for weeks now. It’s been sitting there along with 3 or 4 other similar looking started collages that I just can’t seem to get any momentum on. I can’t seem to get going. Occasionally I’ll pick one up and play with it for a little bit, experimenting with various elements, but ultimately nothing gets glued down.
This is partly my fault. I’ve been super super busy and not had much time or energy to devote to my “personal” work. Maybe it’s just a rut. I’m not sure yet.
Part of me says that the reasons I made collages in the first place have dwindled and that it’s time for something completely different.
Meanwhile, I’ve been creating a number of illustrations for gifts and cards. I’m celebrating this fact by giving them their own page. One of these days I’m going to take a few hours and reorganize all the images here. (Not looking forward to that!)
